EAU Section of Transplantation Urology (ESTU)
The involvement of a urologist should always be realised in renal transplantation and kidney donation, whether as the transplanting surgeon, part of a transplantation team, or as a consultant. The ESTU recognises this and also underlines the important role of the urologist in the procedure.
Our objectives
It is important for the ESTU to promote initiatives on clinical, basic, and translational research in all fields of renal transplantation. To achieve this goal, we welcome all specialists involved such as urologists, nephrologists, microbiologists, and transplant coordinators, to name a few, in our meetings.
The meeting of the Board of the ESTU during the Annual EAU Congress responds to the need to provide a forum to update knowledge, disseminate scientific advances in the field of renal transplantation, and exchange experiences among the professionals involved.
The ESTU aims to aid professionals in the advanced training that the procedure requires. The section updates them on different subject areas through the communication of results derived from the experiences of different renal transplantation units.
Our activities
- Motivating urologists to engage in the field of renal transplantation, including pre-transplant urological evaluation, preparation of potential transplant recipients, and management of urological problems pre- and post-transplant

Fellowship
In collaboration with the EAU Section for Transplantation (ESTU), the EUSP offers the Fellowship on Renal Transplant. During a period of 18 months, you will learn all the ins and outs of urological-nephrological management, both surgically and medically. During the first 6 months, you will participate in all training levels at a certified European centre in renal transplant. Participants will spend the remaining 12 months and complete the fellowship at the Miami Transplant Institute – Jackson Memorial Hospital.
