EAU Working Group on Paediatric Urology (EWPU)

The EAU Working Group on Paediatric Urology is a dedicated platform where urologists interested in paediatric urology meet and exchange knowledge and experience. The ideas behind the establishment of this working group are to gather all the expert paediatric urologists who work within the EAU and have a structured collaboration with the European Society for Paediatric Urology (ESPU).

Background

Paediatric Urology is a supraspecialty and an important part of urological education. The supraspecialty includes many congenital urological diseases, reconstructive surgeries, minimally-invasive treatments, and medical treatments. In addition, adolescent urology, stone disease in children, and other developmental urological problems are treatment fields of paediatric urology.

Although paediatric urology requires specific education and fellowship training, the number of paediatric urologists is limited and many adult urologists are treating paediatric urological diseases due to regulations in their home countries.

Hundreds of urologists during the EAU Annual Congress attend paediatric urology sessions such as thematic sessions, ESU courses, special YAU sessions, and abstract sessions.
